Antonio Iavarone obtained his specialization degree at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome in 1991. From 1991 to 1999, he worked at the Pediatric Oncology department of the Agostino Gemelli Policlinic in Rome, conducting research on neuroblastoma and successfully identifying the role of the ID2 protein in the development of certain pediatric tumors. Since 2002, he has been a professor of Pathology and Neurology at the Columbia University Institute for Cancer Genetics in New York and is in charge of a cancer research group. Prof. Iavarone has received numerous international awards and recognitions for his contribution to cancer research and is considered one of the world’s leading experts in studying the molecular aspects of Glioblastoma, the most aggressive and common form of brain tumors in adults. Prof. Iavarone will sit on the Scientific Board of IMMUNOMICA to define its strategies and make it an international player.
